Ciao and Meows to Cheetah

Grateful that Patty has confirmed Cheetah passing in the shed. Patty found him lying comfortable in the shed, which he has made his home since escaping from the 'chat-i-eau' (wire enclosure) some 5 years ago. He was part of an alley colony relocated here in 2016.

He almost seemed to make a concentrated effort to be 'Home'. He'd claimed the shed after escaping the pen.

Patty said by all indications, he went in, found/made a comfortable spot and lied down to sleep.

He had other cool spots, and i don't think he'd been in the shed for a while, so i believe his return there WAS DELIBERATE knowing he wouldn't leave.

There are many other places he slept, but somehow i feel he knew THIS time would be different. This time he needed to go what he knew would be his new 'Fur-ever' home to sleep, not just catch a convenient comfy.

I believe he knew this time we would not wake up in the same plane in which he had gone to sleep.

Though never permitted to touch him, we were a symbiotic team.

I don't know that he heard or saw much anymore. When i came with food, he didn't stir until i touched him with the bowl.

But he had two cool spots to nap long the base of the house.

Daily he would appear, on a somewhat regular schedule, for a drink of water, a walk across the yard i imagine to 'evacuate' his bowels and bladder, then a little more water, a couple kibbles, and off to nap by the kitchen.

He knew if i saw him there, he'd get a Sheba treat.

He usually would get up on a low shelf for eating, but the last few days just sort of laid in the middle of the breezeway, between the door to the laundry room, and the one across to the house.

And that's right where I've been feeding him.

On the ground and surrounded by four or five OTHER hungry cats. Who never hassled him at ALL. While he was eating or otherwise.

Grateful he chose us to be his family.

Grateful for the opportunity he permitted to call myself a 'rescuer', and to feel a little bit more self esteem for caring for one that wasn't cared about.

Lot's of people take in lots of cats. I gave myself a point for Chelsea, the first blind one, and another for Tommy, the deaf/blind one.

But those are different stories.

So much emotion for such a small creature.
