Carbon Crosses the Bridge

I have been endeavoring to encourage Patty to be optimistic, but I fear my own hesitations may show through.

Carbon had not been doing well at all. She had a LOT of spirit, but EVERYTHING she took in comes back out moments later.

She was always tiny but had lost weight to become a wraith.

About a dozen years ago, one of ours passed on and we took in two from a friend's auto repair yard. We left a cage with him and said put two in it. He said he didn't have to put any in it, a grey and a tabby went in on their own. We had a tabby, so she became 'CopyCat', and her littermate became Carbon, a.k.a. 'BonBon'.

BB has been OK with me being near, and my stopping to chat with her, but has NEVER let me touch her more than a brief. fast strike. CC varies by the day and hour.

Last night BB was definitely animated and calling quite demandingly for food. We gave him about a half tsp of goat's milk that she held down for about 45 minutes to an hour. She was near constantly yowling loudly for more. We gave her another half tsp and she lost all of it.

We'd already had an appointment for with the vet for today.

This morning she had NO energy, and her vocalizations were not for food but quite unmistakably for release.

The discussion was not long. The last thing that the vet could think of was cancer. She said they'd done about everything else within reason. MRIs, X-rays, or ultrasounds would have been in the thousands of $$$.

The tech administered the 'go to sleep'. She did not need the second shot. She was on my lap, and suddenly her front leg popped to be extended and her throat pulsed once, and I knew she had gone.

We hope her future lives and adventures are as good to her as we believe we have provided.

Safe journeys little Carbon!
