Cord Control

But I’m sure you’ll agree — what makes them so FUN is their natural curiosity and cleverness.

Your furry pal is always ready to surprise and delight you with their antics…

But sometimes their mischievous nature can lead your cat into danger — even inside your own home.

That’s why today, I want to remind you about one very dangerous household item: electrical wires.

You see, when wires dangle from lamps, snake across the floor, or tangle under your desk…

They look like cat toys to your furry pal.

Many cats are also drawn to the rubbery texture, because it feels nice on their claws and teeth.

But as you know, clawing and chewing on electrical wires can lead to serious injuries.

The good news is: there are 3 very simple and inexpensive tricks to keep electrical wires tucked away —

So your clever kitty can’t reach them.

And even if you’ve never had a problem with this before…

It’s a good idea to “cat-proof” your wires, just in case.

Plus, these “hacks” are so quick — you can make your home a cat safe haven in minutes.

Let’s dive in…

3 Tips to Make Your Home a Cat Safe Haven
(in minutes)

Tip #1: Wrap wires in “cord sleeves”

All you need is empty paper towel rolls, scissors, and tape. How much you need depends on how many cords you’re wrangling.

This is great for covering up hanging wires, like the cord from a table lamp.

Just take your paper towel rolls and scissors. Cut a straight line up each roll, from the bottom up to the top.

When you’re done, your cardboard tubes should open like hotdog buns.

Then, simply wrap the tubes around your hanging wires. Use as many as it takes to cover the whole wire.

You can tape them closed if you want them to be extra secure.

These covers help hide the cord from your cat…

And can also prevent your furry pal from getting their claws or teeth on the wire

Tip #2: Tie up your cords

You’ll need twisty ties and tape (the amount just depends on your particular needs).

This is another way to deter your cat from playing with hanging wires.

Wrap as much of the excess length of cord around your fingers. When you’ve gathered as much as possible, wrap a twisty-tie around the bundle.

Tape the bundle and the rest of the wire to the nearest surface, like a table leg or a lamp base.

You can even tape the cord to the floor or the wall, if that’s easier.

Your goal is simply to secure the wires against a larger surface, so they’re not dangling like a cat toy and tempting your furry pal to play.

Tip #3: Box up your wires

Head to your cupboard and grab a medium-sized plastic tupperware along with a lid and scissors.

For this one, you’ll use the plastic tupperware and its lid to hide your powerstrip and excess length of cords.

First, take your scissors and tupperware lid. Carefully cut off the top left corner of the lid (about two inches in from the edge.)

Next, take the tupperware box and place it on the floor. Unplug your powerstrip and lay it inside, letting the cord hang out over the top left corner.

Plug everything into your powerstrip, then gather up the excess length of cord and tuck that inside the tupperware box too.

Then, put the lid on.

You’ll notice, the wires run out through the hole in the corner, but the tangle of cords is contained inside the box!

And there you have it — these simple and inexpensive “hacks” can save you and your kitty a lot of trouble…

But most importantly: these safety measures can help your furry best friend stay safe.

So take a few minutes to secure your electrical cords today!

That way, you’ll have peace of mind... while your clever kitty safely gets up to some mischief.

To you and your best friend,

Dr. Marty
