Pressing your cat

Greetings;

My dear friend Char bought some high end pet food, and has since been getting emails about animals. She share a couple, and i asked if she would please share additional cat related notes.

Herewith is one on rubbing your kitty to health and wellness.

it’s a simple method you can use to help your kitty cope with recurring problems like:
Digestive issues - including gas or an upset stomach

Frazzled nerves - say during a thunderstorm or when there are new people in the house.

Signs of skin irritation - like itchy spots or dry flaky skin
Plus, you can do it while snuggling on the sofa with your kitty!

This technique comes from the ancient therapeutic practice of acupressure.

Acupressure is essentially a very focused, intentional massage therapy that can promote better physical and mental health for your cat.

Now, certified acupressurists are wonderful— but daily sessions can quickly become expensive.

So here are 3 of the easiest daily acupressure techniques you can use on your cat at home, right now:

#1 — The Sweet Spot: To help promote a calmer mood and physical relaxation.

Softly run your finger from the tip of your cat's nose up to the flat area just between their eyes.

That’s the “sweet spot.”

Press lightly on this spot to encourage the flow of blood, oxygen, and energy in the area — and also promote the release of “happy hormones” from your cat’s brain.

Gently press this spot for 10 seconds, then release for 5 seconds. Do this up to 5 times in one sitting.

You’ll know the “sweet spot” is helping when your cat’s breathing deepens and their body goes all loosey goosey.*

#2 — The Wellness Nook: To support your cat’s healthy immune system and help fight environmental irritants.

While your cat is lying down, gently lift their front paw as if you’re “shaking hands.” Bend their leg to create a 90° angle.

Softly press your finger into the “nook” that forms inside their bent elbow. This can promote the flow of blood, of “happy hormones,” and oxygen in your cat’s body…

It can even help them move toxins out of their system.*

Hold this point for 10 seconds and then release for 5 seconds.

Your kitty might become more relaxed when you do this, since it can help deliver all that “good stuff” to their joints and muscles.

#3 — The Belly Button Line: To help soothe an upset tummy and support your cat’s healthy digestion.

These points can be in different locations on every cat’s stomach, due to the variety of breeds and sizes.

So rather than try to pinpoint the exact spots, I recommend tracing a line down the middle of your cat’s belly.

While your kitty is lying down, gently press at the base of your cat’s chest bone and then run your finger in a straight line down the center of their belly.

Repeat this process for 10 seconds, then rest for 5 seconds. Do this for just a couple of minutes a day.

This gentle pressure can help settle their tummy and stimulate healthy movement in their digestive system.*

And there you have it.

These acupressure methods can be such a fantastic addition to your “kitty quality time” every day.

In fact, since you’ll be paying closer attention to their body and their responses to each acupressure point…

If there’s a “problem area” or if something is “off” with your cat — you may be able to catch it before it becomes a larger issue.

Of course, like always: If you think your cat may be experiencing a larger health issue, it’s a good idea to take them in to see your veterinarian.

That way, you can make sure there’s nothing more serious going on.

So give these easy acupressure methods a try!

I know your kitty will love it — after all, it’s a personalized, relaxing, wellness massage…

What a lucky cat!

To you and your best friend,

Dr. Marty
